Work That Loops Back
On why aligned teams matter, how creativity moves through the body and mind, and what old projects teach us about the present.
This Letter has a range of things that light me on fire and I hope you’ll get some tools and inspiration to light up your work more with creativity and innovation. But first up, I have a really big teaching schedule coming up before Christmas and will be in Melbourne twice, Dubai, Paris and Milan teaching before I finish my next module of therapy training, at one of my all time fav retreat centres, Mandali (do check it out, my friend Wildrik created this with his childhood best friend and it is so stunning and has so much integrity).
I am feeling completely humbled by all that is coming into my world at the moment, and like this whole year has been emotional and spiritual strength training for all that is now landing! I have pushed myself so far out of my comfort zone, have almost completed my current therapy training, am working on my thesis (and nowhere near finished) have written a whole new book on perimenopause for women (launching Sept 2026), have taught all over the world, had my first year with our daughter out of home, hosted a Retreat in Japan first time, have travelled all over Europe and Australia, had so many crazy meltdowns, also experienced so much joy, and worked with and have met such fabulous people I feel kind of spaced out trying to take it all in.
Melbourne Event 6th November - stay tuned for details, this is a collaborative event with some friends and their worlds and companies that will be about consciousness, creativity and clarity. Details to come or email us info@thebroadplace.com.au to go on a wait list.

LETTER
What makes me excited is when parts, sections and chapters of life come back into alignment. Pieces of a puzzle you remember fondly, but you thought had a full stop, but it turns out it was just a really lengthy comma. Back when Arran and I had our communications agency, in the very early days, I did majority of the work myself for certain clients. One of those clients was Incu and I loved working with the team there, owner operators that are heavily involved in their own business has always been a thrill for me, as there is a lot of creative freedom involved. One of the pitches that came into fruition with Incu (this was 14 or 15 years ago, so relevant to that time) was to create a Zine for them. I created two issues, photographing, styling, interviewing, copywriting and laying out the design for both. They led into a zine series and then magazine and this Thursday when I am in Sydney I am going to the launch of their 2025 Magazine to support and also catch up with so many old friends there.
This Wednesday I am also hosting a workshop for the Incu team on The Neuroscience Of Creativity and Innovation. It is a much bigger team than it was 1.5 decades ago and it continues to grow, so learning, expanding and also having a communal creative language is key. I absolutely love this workshop, it’s 90 minutes, intense, rich and dynamic. The guests get to understand the ways in which their brain and somatic body can support their ability to think laterally and get more into alignment with flow states, alongside looking at their cognitive bias’ and belief systems, experience some breath work techniques, visualisation and also understand interoception and exteroception. It is the same workshop I am hosting at Loco Love in a few weeks, another of my clients, and I can’t explain how thrilling I find it when companies I love want to create a more lateral, effective and influential team environment. These are leaders in their fields and that they invest in their people shows. It’s all too easy to skip the leadership components of creativity, clarity and consciousness for squeezing in more productivity and spreadsheet generation. But we all know that grounded, progressive and aliveness in people is what creates sustainable businesses - the people in the business ARE the business, and even the impacts of AI doesn’t deny this truth.
The time for this kind of forward thinking learning is now. We all know that for so many of us this has been a really challenging year. And, when things get crunchy, learning, up-levelling and becoming attentively more flexible and adaptable is utterly key. It doesn’t appear by all reports that the next few years are going to get easier across so many areas of our lives. And, at the exact same time, I hope you’re seeing what I am seeing - that consciousness and creativity and kindness are becoming the leaders. Not on the impactful scale of our politicians, but with the grass roots boots on the ground people and companies that are making a difference within their sphere of influence. We are EXACTLY what we consume emotionally, physically and spiritually. And in the era of doomscrolling, and panic and negative bias, plus a panic that everyone’s jobs are going to be replaced by AI - broad minded, forward thinking teachings, tools and practices are going to be key to creating equanimity.
If you would like to work with me in a One on One or Small Group Coaching container - or have me come teach in your workplace, simply email jacqui@thebroadplace.com.au and we can begin a conversation about your needs and goals.
I want to share a few quick tools that I teach when coaching executives and business owners and those in the leadership space. This work is normally far more detailed when taught, but these are a very edited version of some things you can implement right away if you and your team are hitting a wall, are feeling flat, or are in need of a boost. These DO NOT have to just be for creative teams. I teach a lot in tech, finance and banking and these are relevant everywhere. I challenge you that if you find yourself eye rolling and thinking ‘oh, cute for creatives - sigh’ think again. And maybe have a look at your internal attitude and language, and feel into what a shift towards more lateral approaches to the workplace might look like for you personally.
Also you don’t have to be in the leadership team to suggest these!
DREAM WALL
Create a space with notes or papers that can be stuck up at any time for when a ‘wouldn’t that be the dream’ comment comes up. We say this all the time, with a ‘well that’s impossible’ tone, and often are thinking through our cognitive bias. The possible becomes impossible when we are tired, not collaborating and leaning into our Victim. So simply write up the idea in a sentence, have others view see this Dream Idea and sit with it, and once a week review together and see what might actually become possible and how in a big brain dump session. Remember do not just include the leadership team on this one, everyone in the business should get a say. I cannot tell you HOW MANY TIMES the very young junior or shelf packer or delivery driver has the most epic of ideas, just previously no chance to voice them.
THE ENTHUSIAST PRESENTATION
Once a fortnight, have people nominate themselves to present for 15 minutes a talk on the thing that they are the most passionate about, and obsessed with outside of work. We used to do this within our agency and then so many of our clients from Audi, through to Hendricks and LVMH would incorporate the same. It’s a totally delicious moment where someone (often usually previously shy or introverted) knocks everyone socks off with something that they are really into in their life. We had a 15 minute presentation on the most exquisite sunglasses collection ever with detailed history of sunglass design presented (from a graphic designer). A brilliant, visual and hand drawn presentation on why the GFC occurred (from a publicist). The list goes on, we were 10 people and did this weekly on Thursday afternoons and the shock of either ‘I had no idea you were into that’, or ‘how come you never discuss this it is - and you - are amazing’ - broke down walls and brought in a respect and creative culture that we couldn’t have produced on our own as a team just at work.
THE CREATIVE EXCURSION
Remember how at school excursions were really exciting? Well we would have a different person from each department once a month pick a place to take their team for an hour or so - it could be as offbeat as they liked, but had to be inspiring for that team. We had art gallery exhibitions, special new bar openings visited, walks through parts of the city no one usually walked through, book store visits for a talk and more. If the team was small just two would go, sometimes the whole workplace would get so excited about something we would all go there together for that month. This was a way for someone to flex their interests and researching abilities and create something left of centre for everyone to learn from. They were short but impactful, the budgets were extremely tight and the results of inspiration and team building were phenomenal as it just shook everything up and also got us out from behind the desk and out into the wild.
Arran and I have been plugging away at one of our side projects Modern Cosmic and have some truly beautiful things to add to the collection. Short Haori/kimono style jackets and matching pants in navy and terracotta, some amazing jumpers with embroidery details with our Have Yourself A Cosmic Day embroidered badges and more for you to explore. Modern Cosmic involves very small scale production runs, and all sizes are unisex. The quality is amazing, I have quite literally flogged my pants and jacket on many months of travel and horrible washing machines and planes, trains and even hiking, and they’re still soft and perfectly fitted.
Also I have made our 20 Minute Meditation Sand Timers and our High Grade Living books both 50% off for the time being - moving warehouse has made me realise I need to move some of these into the hands of people who will love them!
MANGO DREAM
I truly never thought I would be the kind of person that drank protein shakes and did strength training, but I am 45, and the midpoint of my 'approximate life expectancy’ has passed me by. And I also went to the opening of our friends club opening on Sat night for a rave, and I have no intention of never not wearing a mini skirt, boots and see through mesh beaded body suit - so here I am hiking hills in a weighted vest (it feels like suffocating) and doing strength training sessions and every day being mind boggled at HOW much one has to eat to get the daily protein in. Ugh. So I have been making a series of different protein drinks and this is my current fave and the servings change each time I literally throw it all in and then blitz in the Nutribullet.
Coconut Milk
Coconut Water
Frozen Mango
Hemp Seeds
Protein Powder (currently using Whey More Protein)
Collagen Powder
Macadamia Butter
Maple Syrup
Mango Dream on hyperfixation non rotation.
Backstage at Haven in Byron Bay. Our friends have truly created something amazing with this venue. I got so proud I cried. And then I danced for 4 hours straight and my body is still reminding me even today how awful high heels are.
Arran, who came for support and lasted 17 minutes and left. For someone how used to work at the best clubs and bars, it’s hilarious for me how much he hates that scene now, but also it’s handy for when I need picking me up later hehe.
Keep meditating, keep growing, keep dancing.
Love Jac x
